Sign Installation Tucson: Our Own Crews, Our Own Trucks, From Site Survey to Final Connection

Addisigns has handled commercial sign installation in Tucson since 1955.

A sign is only as good as the day it goes up. It has to be mounted straight, secured to the structure properly, wired safely and finished so it looks right from the street. Our installation crews do that work across Southern Arizona and the Phoenix area.

We are a locally owned Tucson company with about 20 team members. The same company that designs and builds your sign also installs it. That means the people on the lift already know the drawings, the mounting plan and the electrical layout before they arrive. CEO Mike Addis personally oversees projects, so there is a clear line of responsibility from the first meeting to the last bolt.

Our installers work on every type of sign we make, including channel letters, monument signs, pylon and pole signs, multi-tenant signs, awnings, address numbers and LED message centers.

Site Surveys

Good installs start with a good survey.

We provide accurate, on-time site surveys for new signs, branding updates, name change-overs and sign refurbishments. If you are rebranding several locations or replacing the faces on an existing cabinet, the survey tells us exactly what we are working with before anything is built.

A survey visit generally records:

  • Measurements of the wall, fascia, canopy or sign structure where the new sign will go
  • The condition of the wall or structure and what it is made of
  • Electrical access, including where power is available and how it can reach the sign
  • The condition of any existing sign, cabinet, pole or footing
  • Photos of the site, the mounting area and the surrounding view from the street

Built From Accurate Survey Data

That information goes straight to our design team and our fabrication shop. Designers use it to size the sign correctly. The shop uses it to plan mounting hardware and electrical components. Our permit specialist uses it for drawings and site plans. When a sign is built from accurate survey data, it fits the first time.

Surveys for Rebrands and Name Change-Overs

When a business changes its name or updates its logo, the existing sign structure can often stay in place. A survey shows whether a cabinet can take new faces, whether channel letters need to come down and go back up, and whether the electrical is in shape to reuse. For property managers with several tenants changing over, a survey of each sign keeps the project organized and on schedule.

Ready to Roll

Our Installation Equipment Fleet

We run our own fleet, so we are not waiting on rented equipment to show up. Our installation trucks include:

Crane trucks

For setting pylon signs, large cabinets and heavy monument components.

Bucket trucks

For mounting and servicing signs high on buildings and poles.

Ladder trucks

For wall signs and lower-elevation work.

Man-lifts and JLGs

In several sizes for storefronts, tight lots and interior work.

Having the right size lift for each job matters. A narrow strip center walkway calls for different equipment than a freeway-facing pylon. We pick the equipment during the survey so the crew arrives ready.

Safety and Site Coordination

Most installs happen at open businesses, busy shopping centers and working hospitals and schools. Our crews plan around that. We coordinate timing with owners and property managers, set up a safe work zone around trucks and lifts, and keep the area clear for customers and traffic.

We will talk with you ahead of time about access, parking, landscaping and any hours that work best for your site. When the sign is up, the crew checks the finished installation before leaving.

Electrical Connections by Licensed Electricians

Illuminated signs need safe, correct power. Electrical connections on our installs are handled by licensed electricians. Our signs are built in a U.L.-certified manufacturing facility, and the field connection is done with the same care.

Whether it is a set of LED channel letters, a lit monument or a digital message center, the sign leaves our crew wired, tested and working.

Permits Handled Before Install Day

Most exterior signs need a permit before they go up. Our in-house permit specialist handles permits and variances for our projects, and Addisigns has worked with Southern Arizona municipalities for more than 60 years.

See our sign permitting page for how that process works.

Good Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my existing sign structure be reused during a rebrand?

Often it can. During the site survey we look at the existing cabinet, pole, footing and electrical. If they are in good shape, new faces or new letters can go on the existing structure. If not, we will explain what needs to be replaced.

Do I need a site survey before installation?

For most new signs, rebrands and refurbishments, yes. A survey gives us accurate measurements, wall and structure conditions, electrical access and photos so the sign is built to fit your site.

Who makes the electrical connection?

Electrical connections are handled by licensed electricians as part of our installation process.

Do you install signs in Phoenix?

Yes. Our crews travel from our Tucson shop to Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert and surrounding areas for commercial sign installation.

Will you handle the sign permit?

Yes. Our in-house permit specialist handles permits and, when needed, variances. Call 520-748-1540 to get started.
