Commercial Signs for Phoenix-Area Businesses

Sign company Phoenix businesses can count on, built in Tucson.

Clear Up Front

Built in Our Tucson Shop, Installed in the Valley

If you are looking for a sign company Phoenix businesses can rely on for the full job, Addisigns can help.

We want to be clear up front about how we work. We do not have a Phoenix office. Every sign is designed and fabricated at our shop in Tucson. Our crews then travel to the Valley for site surveys, installation and service.

We have been building commercial signs in Arizona since 1955. We are locally owned, with about 20 team members, more than 3,000 completed projects and 24 sign types. Phoenix-area customers get the same team, the same shop and the same standards as our Tucson customers.

Step by Step

How a Phoenix-Area Sign Project Works

A remote project does not mean a hands-off project. Here is how we run a sign job in the Valley from our Tucson shop.

1. Consultation by Phone or Email

Most Phoenix-area projects start with a call to 520-748-1540 or an email to sales@addisigns.com. Tell us about your business, your building and what you want the sign to do. Send photos of the site if you have them. We will talk through sign types, lighting options and what your city is likely to allow.

2. Site Survey Visit

Next, we send a team to your location. Our site surveys are accurate and on time. We measure the wall or the ground area, check the electrical, note what is already on site and look at how drivers and walkers will see the sign. Surveys also cover branding updates, name change-overs and refurbishments of existing signs.

3. Design and Drawings

Our in-house designers create the sign concept and the drawings. If you need help with your logo, they can work on that too. You review the drawings and ask for changes until the sign is right. Learn more about our sign design service.

4. Permits With Your City

Our in-house permit specialist prepares and submits the permit package to your city. We handle the back-and-forth with plan reviewers and pursue variances when a project needs one. See our sign permitting service.

5. Fabrication in Tucson

Once the permit is approved, we build your sign in our U.L.-certified manufacturing facility in Tucson. Our shop uses current industry hardware and software. Read about our sign fabrication.

6. Delivery and Installation

Our crew hauls the finished sign to your site and installs it. Our fleet includes crane trucks, ladder trucks, bucket trucks, man-lifts and JLGs in several sizes. Licensed electricians handle the electrical connections. See our sign installation service.

Local Codes

Every Valley City Has Its Own Sign Code

Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler and Gilbert each set their own sign rules. Codes can limit sign size, height, placement, lighting and the number of signs per building. Rules can also differ by zoning district, and some shopping centers and business parks add their own sign criteria on top of the city code.

What gets approved quickly in one city may need changes in the next one over. That is why the permit step matters so much on a Valley project. Our permit specialist reviews the requirements for your specific site before the design is final, so the drawings we submit match what the city expects.

One Rollout

Multi-Location and Statewide Brands

Many businesses have locations in more than one city, and some have stores in both Tucson and the Valley. Working with one sign company for all of them keeps your brand consistent.

Our designers can build one sign package and adapt it to each site and each city’s code. We can survey, permit and install across Arizona, and we ship signs nationwide for multi-location businesses. One point of contact handles the whole rollout.

24 Sign Types

Popular Sign Types for Valley Businesses

We build 24 types of signs. These are the ones Phoenix-area retail, office and medical clients ask about most.

Not sure which type fits your building or your city’s code? That is a normal place to start. During the consultation and site survey, we will look at your setback, your traffic and your neighbors’ signs, then recommend options that make sense for the site. Browse every option on our sign types page.

Our Work

Signs We’ve Built for Arizona Businesses
Desert-Tough

Signs Built for Desert Sun and Heat

The Valley and Tucson share the same tough climate. Strong sun, summer heat and monsoon wind all wear on signs. We have built signs for Arizona weather for more than 70 years, and we plan materials, lighting and mounting with that in mind.

When a sign does need attention, our crews can come back for service. We handle everything from replacing a bulb to full refurbishment, including LED retrofits and neon repair. Our maintenance plans check electrical components, clean faces and make adjustments. Learn more about sign repair and maintenance.
